The Lovely Little Toy Shop

Our Story

It all began on a family holiday in Yorkshire, spending time with my husband, our new baby son Henry (who was ten months old at the time) and our two ‘four-legged’ children! During this holiday, we stumbled across the most wonderful little toy shop. In the front window was ‘Percy Pup’ – which immediately drew me into the shop – and it was this little fellow that started me (without knowing it at the time) on this particular journey.

Percy Pup duly came home with us (well, that was inevitable!), along with many other toys for Henry to grow in to. They have lasted extremely well, considering the robust and rigorous testing they have experienced at the hands of my son. I dread to think how many miles poor Percy Pup has travelled around our kitchen, and how much faster he has become. Even now, as a six-year-old, if Henry gets his hands on this beautiful toy, Percy’s off at 60mph around the island, often on two wheels – poor pup!

Children aren’t young for very long and I can’t tell you how many precious memories toys like these can give not only your little ones, but also you as your loved ones grow up and develop throughout childhood.

About Us

I wanted others to share in these precious moments of child’s play too, so I have put together a selection of toys that we have enjoyed so much, along with others that I wish I had found sooner. These are not items that you would easily find on the high street, but I have sourced these and pooled them all together in one place for you view in…. our Lovely Little Toy Shop.

Thank you for looking in our shop and for supporting a small ‘mother and son’ business. I hope you like what you see, and if you have any suggestions or questions, please do let us know.

Love, Sarah & Henry xx

P.S.
I was agonising over a business name for weeks, and when I asked my son – who was four years old at the time – ‘what should Mummy call her toy shop, where she’s going to sell lovely little toys like you have?’, he simply replied ‘The Lovely Little Toy Shop’… and then added ‘you’re not selling my toys, are you, Mummy?’. Children are great, they just say it as it is!

P.P.S.
All items meet the approval of or are chosen by my son, and he also helps with packing and dispatch…

P.P.P.S.
Sadly we lost one of our dogs mentioned in this story, but we now have another and guess what we called him? Yes, Percy – it just had to be… (he’s the fluffy one in the photo)
