The Lovely Little Toy Shop began, quite simply, with love at first sight. On a windswept Yorkshire holiday, founder Sarah spotted a fabric dog named Percy Pup wagging from a tiny shop window. That spontaneous purchase ignited years of joyful play for her son Henry and, eventually, the vision to share similarly enduring toys with families everywhere.
Today our independent store operates from picture-postcard Southwell, Nottinghamshire, curating exceptional brands that rarely appear on crowded high-street shelves. Every item we stock has survived Henry’s famously rigorous “play-test”: endless kitchen laps, hair-raising sofa dives and bedtime squeezes. If it cannot withstand the exuberance of childhood, you will never see it in our collection.
Running the shop remains a mother-and-son adventure. Sarah handles sourcing, gift wrapping and handwritten thank-yous, while Henry (now chief junior advisor) still approves new arrivals and helps pack parcels for dispatch.
