The Lovely Little Toy Shop was born from a love of traditional toys and the memories they create. Our story began on a family holiday in Yorkshire, spent with my husband, our baby son Henry (just ten months old at the time) and our two much-loved dogs. During that trip, we discovered a small, charming toy shop that instantly captured my heart. Sitting proudly in the window was a toy called Percy Pup, and it was this little character that unknowingly set everything in motion.
Percy Pup came home with us, along with many other beautiful toys for Henry to grow into. Those toys were played with endlessly, tested thoroughly, and loved deeply. Even now, years later, Percy still makes appearances, racing around the kitchen and bringing back memories of Henry’s early years.
I wanted to share those moments of childhood joy with other families, so I began carefully sourcing toys that offered the same quality, charm, and lasting appeal. These are not toys you easily find on the high street, but ones chosen for their ability to inspire imagination and create meaningful play experiences.
Today, The Lovely Little Toy Shop has a home in Southwell, Nottinghamshire, alongside our online store. Every toy we stock is handpicked, approved by Henry himself, and packed with care. We are proud to be a small, family-run business, sharing toys that become part of childhood memories.
